New BlackBerry 6 Video Shows Off "Social Feeds" App, Universal Search

RIM has released another BlackBerry 6 teaser video, detailing new features as well as a polished look and feel.

BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion (RIM) this morning said "Happy Monday" to all of us CrackBerry addicts by posting up another official teaser video for its upcoming mobile OS, BlackBerry 6, which is expected "this summer."

The one-minute-and-forty-second-long clip shows BlackBerry 6 on a touch-screen device yet again—most likely the BlackBerry 9800 "Torch" slider, which is expected to be the first BlackBerry 6 device to hit the U.S. market when it's released on AT&T in the coming months. And it mostly focuses on the new "Social Feeds" application, a universal search feature and the shiny new UI.

Social Feeds is a brand new core BlackBerry app, and it lets you post messages or updates to multiple social networking services, including Twitter and Facebook, at once. And you can also access your various news and RSS feeds from with the app.

Other notable features shown within the video include new BlackBerry universal search, which lets you search your entire BlackBerry device from one central location, instead of having to search each specific section separately. And BlackBerry 6 has a cool new feature that lets you pin commonly-used contacts to the home screen for quick and easy access.

The video is the second such official BlackBerry 6 clip released by RIM; the first clip, which was mostly focused on navigation, was released back in April at RIM's Wireless Enterprise Symposium (WES). (Watch that video here.)

In related news, CDMA BlackBerry users on Verizon and Sprint in the United States may have quite a while to wait before they can get thumbs on BlackBerry 6--at least according to one analyst.

And you can read more about BlackBerry 6 on RIM's official blog, Inside BlackBerry.
