BlackBerry Style 9670 Unboxing Video and Hands-On

CIO.com's Al Sacco "unboxes" RIM's new BlackBerry Style 9670 flip smartphone, which will be available via Sprint in the U.S.

to Mobile/Wireless |

Last week, Research In Motion (RIM) and U.S. wireless carrier Sprint announced the brand new BlackBerry Style 9670 flip smartphone, the very first CDMA BlackBerry to run RIM's latest mobile OS, BlackBerry 6, and the only BlackBerry clamshell device with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The BlackBerry Style 9670 is a Sprint-exclusive device in the United States—at least for the time being. The Style doesn't go on sale until October 31, but it will retail for $100 with a new two-year wireless service agreement and after an equally-valued mail-in rebate. But I was lucky enough to get my thumbs on the device before its release.

I plan to post up an in-depth review of the BlackBerry Style 9670 after I put it through the necessary paces, but I wanted to share this quick Style unboxing video and hands-on before that review hits the Web. Watch the above video for my BlackBerry Style unboxing and hands-on, and check on my BlackBerry Bible reviews page in a week or so for my full Style evaluation.

And for more details and tech specs on the Style, read "BlackBerry Style 9670: The Seven Most Notable Features."

Hardware tokens were a popular method of strong authentication in past years but the cumbersome provisioning and distribution tasks, high support requirements and replacement costs have limited their growth. The additional log-in steps that hardware tokens require and the resulting user frustrations have limited adoption and make them impractical for larger scale partner and customer applications.
