Attn BlackBerry Developers: Join The BlackBerry Cool 15, Get Your Apps in the Spotlight

to Applications |

Next week, Research In Motion (RIM) is holding its first developer-centric event in Santa Clara, Calif., the BlackBerry Developer Conference (BBDC), and I'm lucky enough to be attending. That's not all: I've been asked to sit on the judging panel for a cool new related event, dubbed The BlackBerry Cool 15.

The BlackBerry Cool 15 at RIM's BlackBerry Developer Conference

More on the event, from BlackBerryCool.com:

"The BlackBerry Cool 15 is an event we're running to give exposure to BlackBerry developers with innovative and 'cool' software ideas while providing them with a relaxed forum to interact with other like-minded people. The BlackBerry Cool 15 is a celebration of the BlackBerry development community and a good excuse to have a great time! Here’s how it will happen:

  • We're looking for 15 registered DevCon developers willing to display their innovative, pre-1.0 software release in front of an audience at the BlackBerry Developer Conference.
  • Each of the 15 selected developers will have 1-2 minutes to pitch their idea or application, followed by 2-3 minutes of questioning by a judges panel.
  • After all the developers have made their pitch, the audience members will vote on the best BlackBerry application. The winner will receive some great prizes which will be announced shortly.
  • The whole event will be filmed and eventually displayed on BlackBerry Cool for the entire BlackBerry Nation to see."

The BlackBerry Cool 15 is being organized by BlackBerryCool.com's Douglas Soltys and is sponsored by the BlackBerry Partners Fund.

Sounds great, huh? I can only speak for myself, but I can't wait!

If you're planning on attending the BlackBerry Developer Conference, The BlackBerry Cool 15 is a can't-miss event. As mentioned above, I'll be judging along with Mr. Soltys, Kevin Michaluk from CrackBerry.com, the BlackBerry Partners Fund's Rick Segal and (possibly) Hayden James from Pinstack.com. To quote the BlackBerryCool.com post, the "judging panel is a 'who's who' of the BlackBerry blogging world." In other words, this is a great way to get exposure for your BlackBerry applications. You'll be kicking yourself for a year if you miss this one, folks.

Interested developers should register online for The BlackBerry Cool 15.

I hope to see you in Santa Clara next week!

Hardware tokens were a popular method of strong authentication in past years but the cumbersome provisioning and distribution tasks, high support requirements and replacement costs have limited their growth. The additional log-in steps that hardware tokens require and the resulting user frustrations have limited adoption and make them impractical for larger scale partner and customer applications.
