Redmond's recent decision to enlist both comedian Jerry Seinfeld and film director Michel Gondry to reinvigorate the company's Windows Vista advertising campaign got us CIO.com folks thinking about our choices for the best man (or woman) to breathe new life into Microsoft's Vista ad machine. We've included our top choices in the poll below, but we'd love for you to share your opinions, as well as suggestions for spokespeople we left out. Vote in our poll or drop a quick comment below to let us know who you believe has the best chance of saving Vista and pulling Microsoft out from under Apple's "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" media blitz.
AS
Who better to represent the no nonsense business OS than Mr Wall Street himself Michael Douglas?
If you want a less than serious commercial for the highly intelligent, who better than Dennis Miller?
While I personally don't think Microsoft is going to be able to spend itself into Vista popularity, here are another few suggestions:
Michelle Obama: There is perhaps noone more parallel to Vista's gaffes than her, and if she can successfully re-invent herself, there is no reason to think Vista can't as well.
Ted Kennedy: nearly terminally ill, he represents the classic comeback-from-the-dead scenario by appearing at the DNC. The downside is that the Mac parodies would come back asking who Gates had killed to launch Windows...
Paris Hilton: While it's doubtful she would go for it, Paris embodies much of Windows Vista: annoying messages, a beautiful exterior with not much under the hood, and lots and lots of money.
I wouldn't pick anyone on this list as the Vista spokesperson. Why not go with someone more fun and current - Will Farrell or Dave Chapelle - to counteract the stodgy image being projected all the time by Apple.
They should try to hire Larry Page or Sergey Brin. A valid backup would be Steve Jobs. Other than that ...
