Facebook, notice us, your clients! Stop treating us with so much disrespect! We have learnt all of the rules, we obey them and we have been loyal to you but why do we still get blocked without even a simple explanation being provided!
As any normal person, I have at least 2 profiles on Facebook. Why? Because anyone who has been on Facebook for more than a year knows that Facebook is extremely temperamental. The rules change all the time, people get blocked, you get thrown off your groups as an administrator and you get labelled a spammer for no apparent reason.
Naturally, since there is very little that users can do, we just accept it and try and hedge our risks. Most of my friends and I have at least 2 profiles, so that we do not lose all of our contacts if Facebook decides to block us.
However, something has happened to Facebook over the last 3 days. First of all, I think someone has sent out a virus that actually affected the whole site. Have you seen a message going around (usually sent from one of your friends) saying something about you appearing on the internet, with a link provided? Well, most people I know got that and considering that people did not send it – it’s a virus that is affecting Facebook.
But maybe a lot of people dismissed it…until mass blocking began. In the last couple of days, 36 of my friends had their profile wiped out. None of them are spammers, they use Facebook purely for private purposes. All of the messages they send are individual and different. The number of messages never exceeds 15 per day. The number of friends added does not exceed 20 per day. The total number of friends in the profile is less then 5,000. Trust me – we know all of the limits!
Facebook’s response? Silence. All of my friends and myself have written to Facebook explaining that we were blocked for no reason – but, all we get is an automatic message saying that Facebook has received an enquiry. Nothing is being done. The scary fact is – will our profiles be activated? It is eerie to think that we have lost everything (pictures, messages, contacts).
I’m writing this blog for one purpose only. I’m asking all of those affected to stand up and make a mass outcry. We have trusted Facebook with our contacts, we have put up with all of its rules, the least we deserve is an explanation. I want my profile to be restored! From previous blogs it is obvious, that Facebook does not respond to individual requests, but it responds to public outcries, when a lot of people complain. So, complain here! Let’s get some newspaper coverage and let’s get Facebook to work for us for once!
