Government Health IT reports that Theresa Cullen began her new job with the Indian Health Service as its CIO today. Cullen most recently served as a medical informatics consultant with the Indian Health Service’s Office of Information Technology.
Drug Industry Daily reports today that Fred Farmer, acting CIO of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is leaving his post on July 22. The daily notes that Farmer’s resignation comes at a time of big challenges for the agency, including new regulations and a changing mission. When Farmer leaves, Kathleen Heuer, the FDA’s CFO and associate commissioner for management, will serve as acting CIO until a replacement is found.
Rodney Overby was promoted to EVP and CIO at South Carolina Bank and Trust on July 1. He most recently served as vice president and director of data processing, a position he’s held since he joined the bank in 2001.
Arizona Department of Revenue announced the hire of Susan Silberisen as CIO. Susan Silberisen takes over during a period of rapid change within the agency; including the implementation of the state BRITS system. BRITS is an acronym for Business Reengineering & Integrated Tax System, and involves a complete reengineering and automation of the work processes for the four primary taxes the Department administers: Transaction Privilege Tax, Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax, and Individual Income Tax..
