Late last week, I came across a blog post on Wired.com entitled "BlackBerry Bold Loses Against iPhone in Browser Race." Naturally, as I (obsessively) follow both the Apple iPhone and Research In Motion's (RIM) BlackBerry smartphone line, the story immediately caught my eye. But after only a few seconds of watching the video that accompanied the post, it was clear that this particular "test" was flawed.

Somebody over at Palm apparently got a bit anxious this week and posted on the company's site—albeit very briefly—a few images and technical specifications on an unannounced Treo device, which Palm is calling the Treo Pro.

With the unveiling of Research In Motion's (RIM) BlackBerry Bold in May and Apple's next-generation iPhone 3G a month later, there's been a lot of hype around third-generation (3G) data connections for smartphones. Frankly, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.

Rumors surrounding Research In Motion's(RIM) next BlackBerry smartphone have been circulating throughout the Web and the blogosphere for months now. First, we heard the device could include a touch screen and 3G capability. Then a newly-uncovered RIM patent got bloggers speculating about a device with a slider keyboard. The list goes on.

One of the gripes many U.S. iPhone users have had since Apple first launched the uber popular smartphone in late June is that it's currently a 2.5 generation (2.5G) device, and it does not run on a newer, faster 3G cellular network.
