The same blog that last year accurately predicted Research In Motion (RIM) would unveil a touch screen BlackBerry in 2008 is now reporting that the Canadian company has another potentially ground-breaking smartphone up its sleeve: a BlackBerry Bold/Curve/Storm hybrid with both a touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard, dubbed the "Magnum." Take that iPhone!

Somebody over at Palm apparently got a bit anxious this week and posted on the company's site—albeit very briefly—a few images and technical specifications on an unannounced Treo device, which Palm is calling the Treo Pro.

Research In Motion and its BlackBerry own the corporate smartphone space in the United States. In fact, a recent survey suggests that RIM has nearly three-quarters of U.S. enterprise users.
But many of the same organizations that support BlackBerry smartphones also support Windows Mobile, Palm, and Symbian devices. Read more »

The digital cameras built into smartphones like BlackBerrys, Treos or iPhones can be both friend and foe to IT departments and to corporate users. Whether the potential value of such devices justifies their associated risk has much to do with the settings in which the phones – and cameras – are deployed.

The tech industry handed us a good year in some respects. Salaries up, virtualization tools ripe. But we're cranky and critical so that stuff wasn't good enough.
