Herbalife Hires Ironman Champion as New CIO

Nutritional supplement marketer Herbalife has beefed up its senior management ranks with its appointment yesterday of Charles Sperazza as its new CIO. Sperazza, notably, is a triathelete. He placed first in his age group in the Ironman World Championship that took place in Kona, Hawaii in 2002. Methinks the mighty Sperazza will fit in just fine at Herbalife.
Mark Settle, the former CIO of Arrow Electronics, has turned up at office products supplier Corporate Express. The Broomfield, Colo.-based company yesterday named Settle CIO of Corporate Express North America. Lisa Peters previously served as Corporate Express’s CIO. Settle has appeared in several CIO stories, including a feature I wrote on the advantages of EDI, a short piece I wrote about CIOs’ appetites for new technologies, and a feature from 2002, Settle shared his tips for making the most of his IT dollar.
CDW CIO Jonathan Stevens was one of three executives at his company promoted to senior vice president. Stevens, 37, joined the Vernon Hills, Ill.-based technology products provider in 2001 as the company’s VP of IT. He was named CIO in 2002. Over the past year (from 2005 to 2006) he also served as general manager of CDW’s Canada Operation.
Ananthan Thandri joined Mentor Graphics as its new CIO. He previously worked for Oracle as its VP of IT, responsible for the IT organization that supported Oracle’s server technologies division. Prior to Oracle, Thandri spent 11 years with Cadence Design Systems as its VP of IT. There he cut his teeth implementing SAP, Siebel and an electronic fulfillment system.
