Recovery.gov a showcase US government web site relating to Recovery Act spending was relaunched last week.
As the Information Week article here reports, it fails to meet the Section 508 accessibility standards and recommendations.
The site was expensive to build and maintain (approx $9.5m with $8.5m to come) and was intended to be a showcase government site. Already some reviews have been less than favorable.
Similar government sites such as USAspending.gov have also been criticized.
How much is too much to spend on sites like this?
Are the Section 508 Accessibility standards taken seriously enough? Or are they too hard/expensive to fully comply with?
