A knowledge structure approach predicted that people view competitive
situations as inherently more aggressive than cooperative, It is hard
to Straddle the line between aggressiveness and cooperativeness from
time to time.
Employees have different reaction to the work climate some will increase
his/her productivity and brainstorming in an aggressive climate, other
will react completely the opposite, more likely to feel bothered and
great intentions to quit.
In my opinion high-involvement "empowered" work climate is strongly
associated with lower stress and aggression and higher employee
satisfaction. Increased employee satisfaction improves business results.
The problem is that employees overestimate the personal causes of
aggression and underestimate the social and situational causes.
Orgnizations must be responsible to create high-involvement work
climate in order to increase profits and stop the brain drain.
A good book on this collaborative competition is "Collabetition" by Taiwo Odunsi
