In an effort to reduce worker stress, save time, and increase employee productivity more companies are beginning to support a collaborative virtual workspace model, especially for global companies with a geographically dispersed workforce.
Here’s how it works. Instead of working from a traditional office location and dealing with a stressful and long daily commute, which is medically shown to comprise health, employees are enabled to v-commute (virtual commute). This means they can work from their home office, a client site, or a solution center – which ever is more sensible and makes their lives easier.
This style of collaboration works well in the translation industry as its inherent makeup promotes a distributed working style as translation accuracy relies on a global community of language experts, often living in the regions they translate for with natural propensity for a language’s regional and cultural nuances. To ensure a high level of employee teamwork, despite disparate locations, companies can also use unified communications technology to help employees communicate using a range of options, including instant messaging, voice, and video.
This new way of working is a win-win for both employees and employers and may prove to be an effective means to enhance our lives. With the continued advancement of technology, in addition, to globalization today’s workforce is on the verge of a new era that impacts how we work and will become productive in the 21st century.
