Even during these dog-days of summer, CIOs are moving and shaking. While I can’t say this summer has been the most active market for CIO placements that I’ve ever seen, there have been enough announcements to constitute a blog this week, so here goes.

Maryann Goebel, formerly CIO of DHL Express, has joined Fiserv, a technology to the financial services market. Prior to DHL Express, Goebel held IT executive positions with GM, PepsiCo Business Solutions Group, and Bell Atlantic.

RadioShack Corp. tapped Sharon S. Stufflebeme, previously of 7-Eleven Inc., to serve as CIO of the Fort Worth electronics retailer. Stufflebeme previously worked at Anderson Consulting, Hitachi Consulting and Michaels Stores, and most recently served as chief CIO of 7-Eleven.

Church’s Chicken announced today that Partha Mukherjee has been named CIO. Before joining Church’s Chicken, Mukherjee was Engagement Director at Tech Mahindra, a global IT & BPO outsourcing company with revenue of $1 Billion.

Jeff Stewart is leaving his position at IntrinsiQ Technology for the CIO position at Decision Resources, a research and advisory firms for the healthcare market.

The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) announced that Peter N. Schmidt, Ph.D. has been named CIO and Director of Programs. Dr. Schmidt was most recently Director at Cronus Partners, an investment banking firm in Norwalk, CT. Prior to his role as Director at Cronus Partners, Dr. Schmidt was president of Doctor Global, Ltd., a company offering software for chronic disease management.

MedQuist, a provider of medical transcription software technology and services, has appointed Kevin Piltz as its new CIO.  Piltz joins MedQuist from Geller and Company, a provider of accounting and financial services.

Darwin MacKew has joined consumer products company Igloo Products as CIO.  Prior to joining Igloo, Darwin held executive IT position at Dresser Wayne and ITT Industries.
Travelport GDS, a global distribution system (GDS) provider, which operates both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, has named Mark P. Ryan as its new CIO with the global responsibility for formulating and executing the company’s technology strategy, including software solutions and applications development.

Most recently, Ryan was CIO of Atlanta-based Matria Healthcare, and before that, he was CTO of Vodafone Global Content Services and CTO of The Weather Channel.

And in a testament to the fact that IT is more critical to the business than ever, two CIOs have been appointed to corporate boards.

J.Chris Scalet will join the board of directors of Netezza Corporation, which provides data warehouse and analytic appliances. Scalet is currently Executive Vice President, Global Services, and Chief Information Officer at Merck & Co.

And Credit Suisse Group has appointed CIO Karl Landert to its executive board. Landert has been CIO of Credit Suisse since March 2008 and prior to this, he was head of IT for Credit Suisse's private banking division and a member of the private banking management committee.

For the very few of you who are not on vacation this week, please send me more news on who has gone where.

Thanks!

Martha
