Anheuser-Busch Names New CIO
Plus: IT industry veteran Paul Bilewicz appointed to Oxford Investment Holdings' board.
Let's raise a figurative frosty glass to Joseph Castellano. He was appointed CIO of Anheuser-Busch today. Castellano is a 24-year veteran of the brewing company. He most recently served as the vice president of corporate human resources. In his new role as Anheuser-Busch's VP and CIO, Castellano will be responsible for driving top-line growth through technology applications, making the company more efficient, and for making sure that vital information about the business is quickly disseminated throughout the company. Castellano was tapped for the CIO role because of his broad functional experience at the St. Louis, Mo.-based company. In addition to working in HR, he's also held positions in retail marketing and operations. "His diverse background and experience in so many areas of our business enable him to bring a unique perspective of the evolving technology needs of our organization," said August A. Busch IV, president and chief executive officer of Anheuser-Busch Cos., Inc., in the press release announcing Castellano's move.
Oxford Investment Holdings elected IT veteran Paul Bilewicz to its board of directors. Bilewicz has worked in IT management since the 1980s, during which time he served as the director of information technology at Reed Inc. and BCE Publitech. In the 1990s, he worked for Glaxo Canada as its CIO and where he was also responsible for finance, human resources and business process reengineering. He also served on Glaxo Canada's board of directors. In 1996, Bilewicz was appointed worldwide director of IT for Glaxo Canada's parent company, GlaxoWellcome. He left the drug company in 2000 for the Royal Bank of Scotland where he served as director of systems application development and operatsion for the company's retail banking division. Bilewicz currently owns and operates are resort in Ontario, Canada's Blue Mountain region.
That's all the CIO announcements for today. Posts to Movers & Shakers may be spotty early next week, as I'll be celebrating the 2007 Ones to Watch honorees at CIO's Leadership Conference in Huntington Beach, Calif. on Monday and Tuesday. I'll be blogging from the conference, so please check in to read about the presentations and happenings at the event.
