ShopKo Promotes Two IT Execs: Tammy Hermann and Ray Petersen

Rather than shop around for new IT executives, ShopKo tapped two internal employees to fill the CIO and CTO spots. Tammy Hermann was promoted to SVP and CIO of the $2.2 billion retailer. She reports to Chairman and CEO Michael R. MacDonald. Ray Petersen was made ShopKo's CTO and VP of e-commerce.

Hermann has worked for the company's information services department for six years. Previously, she worked for TD Ameritrade and Mutual of Omaha and consulted with Walt Disney World and Western Union.

Petersen most recently served as the company's vice president of operations technology and information security, a position he held for the past three years. In his new role, he reports to Hermann. ShopKo was bought out by private equity firm Sun Capital Partners in December 2005.

Mace Security International, the maker of the eponymous self-defense spray, has armed itself with a new CIO. Steve Dewsnap had been working as a consultant to the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company for the past five years through an IT consultancy he founded, Microliance. In his new role, Dewsnap will be working closely with Mace's accounting and finance department to enhance reporting systems and controls. A former Captain in the U.S. Air Force, Dewsnap has 18 years of experience in accounting and IT management. He is a CPA and holds a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of South Florida.

Otis Sawyer, La-Z-Boy's CIO turned SVP of corporate operations, is playing musical chairs at the Monroe, Mich.-based manufacturer. Sawyer was appointed to succeed Rodney England who is retiring from the company in February 2008. England currently serves as La-Z-Boy's corporate SVP, president of its England subsidiary and president of its non-branded upholstery division.

Beth A. Bailey took another step up the corporate ladder at engingeering, procurement and construction company CB&I. Bailey, 55, was named EVP and CIO, having most recently served as the Texas-based company's SVP of IT. She reports to President and CEO Philip K. Asherman. Bailey has worked for CB&I over 30 years. She has a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from Elmhurst College in Illinois.

Former BellSouth CIO Fran Dramis joined the strategic advisory board of IOCOM, a developer of enterprise collaboration software.
