Sue Unger Retiring from Daimler; Jan Bertsch Named CIO at Chrysler

Jan Bertsch, who was appointed VP of IT and CIO of Chrysler Group and Mercedes Benz in May 2006, will be leading Chrysler LLC's IT organization as VP and CIO, the newly privatized automaker announced yesterday. Bertsch, who will be working under CEO Bob Nardelli's managment, reports to Chrysler CFO Ron Kolka in her new role. She previously reported to Daimler CIO Sue Unger, who recently announced her retirement from Daimler at the end of the year. Bertsch joined DaimlerChrysler in 2001 as VP of finance for Chrysler Group's global sales and marketing organization. Previously, she spent 22 years with Ford and Visteon where she held a number of positions including assistant treasurer for Ford Motor Company and treasurer at Visteon.

Glatfelter hired Kevin M. McCarthy as its VP and CIO. He is the first IT executive at the company to serve as a member of the senior executive team. McCarthy brings 30 years of IT experience to the York, Penn.-based manufacturer of specialty papers and engineered products. He previously served as executive process sponsor and CIO of Covalence Specialty Materials and Tyco's plastics and adhesives division. He also worked for laser manufacturer Coherent as its CIO. He began his career in consulting with Arthur Andersen and PA Consulting Group. McCarthey holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lafayette College and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

Louise St-Pierre, the VP and CIO of Quebecois telecom Cogeco Cable, was promoted to a new position on Wednesday. She is now VP of customer service and oversees the company's Ontario operations. St-Pierre has worked for Cogeco Cable since the summer of 1999. Over the last eight years, with her team, she has led the development of the company's information technology organization to become one of Cogeco Cable's key strategic assets, according to the press release announcing her promotion. Prior to Cogeco Cable, St-Pierre delivered consulting services in Quebec and New Brunswick.

Francois Beaulieu succeeds St-Pierre in the CIO role at Cogeco Cable. He was promoted to St-Pierre's position from senior director of IT planning and architecture. Beaulieu joined Cogeco Cable in 2004 from AXA. Beaulieu's and St-Pierre's promotions follow a reorganization of the company's Canadian activities designed to enable its expansion strategy.

Former Morgan Stanley CIO Guy Chiarello joined iRise's board of advisors, the software company announced on Wednesday.
